180+ Inch Northern Alberta Whitetail – Double Droptines and Crazy Mass!

orthern Alberta is legendary for producing monster whitetails, but nothing could have prepared me for this once-in-a-lifetime buck. With double droptines and incredible mass, he was the kind of deer you only see in dreams – or on the covers of hunting magazines.

The adventure started at first light, the air so cold my breath froze in clouds around me. I set up along the edge of a thick timberline overlooking a snow-covered feeding area. This spot was perfect – remote and undisturbed, deep in the northern bush where mature bucks roam.

Trail cameras had captured glimpses of him throughout the season. His rack was unmistakable, with double droptines hanging like chandeliers from his heavy main beams. We estimated him to score well over 180 inches, a true giant with mass that seemed to defy gravity. But he was smart, moving only at night, and always eluding hunters.

The morning was quiet, the snow reflecting the soft pink hues of dawn. Hours passed with no movement, just the whisper of the wind through the pines. Then, as the sun began to climb, I heard the crunch of snow. My heart skipped a beat. Emerging from the timber was the giant himself, his antlers glistening with frost.

He moved slowly, his body powerful and muscular, his breath visible in the cold air. His massive rack was even more impressive in person – thick beams with double droptines on both sides, the bases gnarly and heavy. He was a monarch, the king of this frozen kingdom.

I steadied my rifle, the crosshairs settling on his broad chest as he stood at 120 yards. I took a deep breath, steadying my nerves before squeezing the trigger. The shot echoed through the still forest, and the buck leaped, his powerful legs churning snow before he stumbled and fell.

Approaching him, I was in absolute awe. His antlers were enormous, the mass beyond anything I’d ever seen. Each droptine was thick and heavy, curving downward in perfect symmetry. His body was massive, built to survive the harsh northern winters. He was easily over 180 inches, a true Alberta legend.

As I knelt beside him, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and respect. This wasn’t just a hunt – it was the culmination of patience, perseverance, and luck. A double droptine giant with crazy mass, taken in the wilds of northern Alberta. This was the buck of a lifetime, a memory that will never fade.
